I am Petra from Theodora Photography and my heart belongs to family photography. In my studio in Rhenen I create contrast-rich, classic and sometimes almost painterly family portraits that focus on personality and emotion. As a specialist in family photography, I don’t deliver fleeting snapshots but images that preserve a phase of your family life for years to come. My style is characterised by pronounced light–dark contrasts: dark backgrounds, carefully placed studio lights and attention to gaze and posture. With my background in the world of ballet I know how to subtly guide poses so everyone looks and feels their best. I am the host in my studio: calm, welcoming and very patient — ideal for children who sometimes need time to relax. During a family shoot I create a warm, relaxed atmosphere. I work with props and background choices that suit the mood you want: from understated fine‑art portraits to more playful children’s photos with recognisable expressions. In the studio I have beautiful dresses, props and tools such as wind and smoke machines to add extra drama and movement when appropriate. Everything is done with care and always in a child-friendly way. My approach is personal and engaged. Beforehand I listen to your wishes, advise on clothing and composition, and make sure the shoot becomes an enjoyable moment — not only for the photos, but also as a memory of the day. During the session I give clear, calm directions so even people who don’t often stand in front of the camera appear relaxed and natural in the images. The result is a set of photographs you’ll proudly hang on the wall and return to again and again. For years I’ve photographed families and children in and around Rhenen; I use that experience to portray each family in an authentic and stylish way.
