I’m Anja, the photographer behind Photographed by Anja — passionate about capturing families as they truly are. Based in Oud-Beijerland, I mainly work with families and expectant parents who want images that feel honest, timeless and not overly polished. Clients often describe my work as pure, raw, unique and nostalgic; that’s exactly my aim: photographs that bring you back to those small moments of real connection. With a background as a primary school teacher I know how to approach children: calmly, playfully and without forced poses. The session itself should be an enjoyable memory — not a long checklist of tricks, but a relaxed time together during which I capture subtle details and small rituals: a touch, a glance, a sudden laugh. Those moments tell your story. My approach is gentle and personal. I like to work on location or at your home so the images remain familiar and true to life. For expectant parents and newborns I focus on the intimacy and wonder of that period — maternity and newborn photography are a natural extension of my family work. During the session I encourage natural interaction and play; often you’ll find that after a while you barely notice I’m photographing, and that’s when the most valuable images appear. I intentionally accept only a limited number of sessions each year: quality over quantity. That means dedicated attention to every image, careful selection and manual editing, always respecting the mood and color of the moment. I do not deliver unedited files because I believe thoughtful editing contributes to the timeless look my clients seek.
