I am Maud Fontein and family photography is both my passion and my profession. Based in Oegstgeest, I have been capturing families for years in their pure, joyful and sometimes chaotic moments — the very images you’ll cherish later. My style is relaxed and reportage-like: no rigid posing, but walking, playing and simply being together so you can be yourselves. The result is photographs with natural looks, real smiles and the soft light I love. Why do families choose me? Because I know children and how to make them feel at ease. As a mother of three, I understand what works: short attention spans, lots of movement and a good sense of humour. I don’t turn a photo session into a performance but into a pleasant outing where everyone has fun. Parents often describe it as “no stress”: I set the tone, find the right spot in the Randstad or on the beach, and make even the most camera-shy adults feel relaxed. How do I work? We start with a short introduction — by phone or email — to discuss your wishes and favourite locations. For families I offer different formats: cosy private family shoots and quick mini-shoots, up to larger gatherings with multiple generations. During the session I guide gently, respond to moments as they unfold and capture both interactions and small details. After the shoot I lovingly edit the images; the retouching enhances mood and light without losing authenticity. In addition to family sessions I create pure children’s portraits and New Life (newborn) reportages at home — always with the same approach: calm, authenticity and attention to detail. I also share my knowledge through workshops and private lessons for anyone who wants to improve their own photography.
