I am Carmen Reynolds — a dedicated family photographer based in Merenwijk (Leiden). As a specialist in family photography, I focus on photographing families, children and family relationships in a natural, documentary style. My aim is not just to take a nice picture, but to capture your story: those small touches, spontaneous glances and intimate moments that become the most treasured over time. My approach is calm and personal. I start with a short introductory conversation so I understand your family dynamics and expectations. During the photoshoot I create a relaxed atmosphere — I give gentle, clear guidance and leave plenty of room for spontaneity. This produces images that don’t look posed but remain stylish and artistic. I love working outdoors in soft, natural light, but a familiar home environment where children feel free to be themselves often works just as well. What sets me apart is my background in storytelling and my love of light and composition. Photography for me is like "painting with light": I pay attention to texture, movement and nostalgic details — curly hair in the wind, tiny hands, a grandparent’s hug. Since I began photographing while travelling in 2015 and have since captured more than 100 stories, I’ve learned how to bring calm and confidence to every session, even with relaxed or shy children. Although family photography is my core specialty, I also occasionally offer maternity and portrait sessions as a complement. I approach these with the same attention to authenticity and emotion, while keeping the main focus on preserving family bonds. Choosing me means choosing a warm, artistic approach and a photographer who truly listens. I speak Dutch, English and Afrikaans, and I enjoy supporting local creatives and families.
