Documentary family photography in Delft by Tamara Bertels. Spontaneous, unposed family photos and children's portraits in natural light with a calm, warm, relaxed atmosphere.
I am Tamara Bertels, a documentary photographer based in Delft with a heart for family photography. What drives me is the story behind your family: the small routines, unnoticed glances, playful chaos and the loving moments that later become so precious. As a mother and a youth care worker I understand the importance of a safe, relaxed atmosphere — that sense of security is what I create during a family photoshoot so every family member can be themselves. My style is honest, unposed and playful. I rely largely on natural light and remain as unobtrusive as possible: no forced "say cheese", but subtle prompts and gentle encouragement that help create connection and attention. This approach produces natural children's portraits and warm family photos that not only look beautiful but also bring back how it really felt. How I work: we begin with a short introductory conversation so I can learn your story and wishes. On the day itself I keep the mood calm and playful — I give space for spontaneous moments, and I sometimes gently guide with simple tasks so your connection becomes visible. Whether it’s at your home, in a favorite park in Delft or another familiar location, I seek the soft light and the moments that characterize your family. Newborn and baby photography fits seamlessly with my family work; I capture those first fragile weeks with patience and attention to intimacy. My approach is loving and respectful: your pace and comfort are always the priority, and I work carefully to ensure a safe, gentle session for the baby and family. Choosing me means choosing a specialist in family photography who pays attention to emotion, light and connection. In my images you won’t find posed setups but memories — photographs that bring you back to those small, precious moments. Are you looking for a warm, professional and affordable family photographer in Delft? I’d love to talk about your family and how we can capture those memories together.
