I am Gerrit Amelink and family photos are at the heart of what I do: from relaxed portraits to playful children’s images. My goal is always the same — to capture your connection in natural, timeless images that you’ll proudly hang on the wall. What sets me apart is my personal, calm approach. I take the time to put everyone at ease, including children and newborns seeing the camera for the first time. By combining short posed moments with plenty of space for spontaneous interaction, the best moments appear: a glance, a hug, a genuine smile. Parents often tell me they enjoyed the session and did not find it stressful thanks to the relaxed atmosphere. Practically, I work a lot from my home studio in Deventer, but I also love shooting outdoors — my favourite spots are the Hertenkamp, the IJsselkades and the Worpplantsoen. On location I choose backgrounds and light that match your style, or we can make intimate portraits in the studio. During an intake we discuss your wishes, favourite locations and any styling or props you'd like to use. Post-processing is as important to me as the shoot itself. Photoshop and Lightroom are my second language: I edit carefully so skin tones remain natural and the mood of the moment stays intact. Want both colour and black-and-white versions? I send those at no extra cost — so you always have different options for archives or prints.
