I’m Emma — a family photographer based in Geertruidenberg with a clear mission: to create authentic, relaxed memories that only grow in value over the years. Trained as an art teacher and a mother myself, I work from a love of imagery that tells a story. My style is natural, calm and narrative; no rigid poses, but moments in which you recognise yourselves. Why choose a family shoot with me? Because I believe the best photos are made when everyone feels at ease. My approach is friendly and unhurried: we turn the shoot into a pleasant morning or evening where children can play, cuddle and simply be themselves. I combine a documentary eye with gentle direction — sometimes a small prompt, mostly space to live the moment. The result is lively, warm images with natural tones and a timeless feel. How I work: we agree on location and mood beforehand — at home in your familiar surroundings or a favourite outdoor spot in and around Geertruidenberg. During the shoot I let the family set the rhythm; I shoot close but discreetly so small interactions and spontaneous moments are captured. After the session I carefully edit the selected images, mixing color and black-and-white so the set tells a coherent, personal story. What drives me is more than technique: my own life experience — the vulnerability and preciousness of family life — means I treat every family with attention and respect. That’s also why I love photographing "day in the life" documentaries and newborn/maternity work: those first phases deserve softness and space in imagery.
