I am Meike Hekers of Meike Mathea, and my passion is capturing real family moments. As a specialist in family photography, I work from a place of warmth and calm: no stiff, posed images, but photographs that focus on personal bonds and spontaneous interactions. My style is soft, natural, and aimed at recording recognisable moments that become treasured memories. Photography is my way of preserving stories. I grew up carrying a camera, and that curiosity for small, meaningful moments is evident in my work. During a family photoshoot I look for loose, unforced moments — a laugh, an embrace, or a subtle gesture between parents and children. My approach is inviting and approachable: I ask gentle questions, encourage play, and give light direction, but I deliberately leave room for spontaneity so you can be yourselves. Although family photography is my main focus, I also offer newborn and maternity photography as well as portraits to complement my work. For newborn and maternity sessions I aim for intimate, at-home images that reflect the tender and gentle side of this special period. Portrait sessions are used to bring out personality and presence, always maintaining the same relaxed atmosphere and attention to authenticity. Working with me means a calm, personal experience: I quickly build a trusting environment so that even the most camera-shy family members feel comfortable. I believe the best photos happen when people feel free — that’s why I avoid heavy direction during shoots and instead create space for connection and play. You will receive images that show emotion and connection, created with careful attention to light, composition, and detail.
