As a family photographer in Nijmegen I prioritise authenticity and calm. I am Marc van Kempen, a people photographer who presents families in a warm, timeless way. My work breathes craftsmanship — whether it’s a relaxed family shoot at or around your home, an intimate newborn portrait or a playful series of children’s images — I’m always looking for the small, meaningful moments that become important later on. Before the session we’ll share a cup of coffee and a proper conversation so you feel at ease and we can define a mood that suits your family. Only when you’re ready do the studio lights come on; until then I focus on building trust and gently experimenting with poses and light. That relaxed approach yields natural, touching images that show everyday life and genuine relationships — not forced smiles, but moments that do justice to your family. My approach combines a documentary eye with a love for analogue technique. Much of my personal work and darkroom prints are made on film and exhibited; that artisanal feeling informs the way I craft portraits and family series. For those who appreciate traditional processes, I offer handmade gelatin silver prints and special wet darkroom finishing — unique prints that make your memories tangible and long-lasting. I enjoy working across all family life moments: pregnancies and newborns, children's portraits, baptism and communion photos, birthdays and family gatherings. My experience in capturing intimate and emotional events also means I work respectfully and carefully in sensitive situations, such as farewells or memorials.
