I’m Thomas Salverda, a family photographer based in Emmeloord. As a specialist in family photography I focus on capturing moments that feel real. My photography is about catching a feeling and telling your story — not about stiff poses. Whether it’s a relaxed family shoot in the polder, a newborn or baby session at home, or a child portrait after a birthday or first communion, I work with calm attention to create spontaneous, loving images. My style is recognizable and personal: a mix of restrained black-and-white, fresh color, and an in‑between look that can sometimes feel slightly dreamy. We decide those choices together; I’m happy to advise on mood and location. Because I love the outdoors and animals (my background as a gardener helps), I feel completely at home shooting outdoors or in places where you feel comfortable. Pets are more than welcome — they’re part of the family and I give them space in the images. Working with children requires patience, play and flexibility. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive: I connect through small tasks, games or a chat so children can be themselves. That produces much more natural expressions and real smiles. For newborns and babies I choose times and locations that are comfortable for both child and parents, with safety and calm as top priorities. I studied media at Cibap and have learned mostly by doing; photography is my passion and I offer it professionally with an approachable attitude.
