Hi, I’m Suzanne Arling — your family photographer from Emmen with a passion for storytelling. Family photography is my specialty: I focus on capturing real moments, not stiff poses. My shoots feel relaxed and joyful; fun and connection are always central. That’s how natural, timeless images are created that you’ll keep returning to with a smile. As a photographer I combine formal training (Deltion College) with years of hands-on experience. I especially enjoy working with young families: maternity sessions, newborn and baby photos, children’s portraits and special family moments like christenings, communions or birthdays. Not because I tick boxes, but because I understand how tender and precious these moments are — and how important it is to document them with care and love. My approach is personal and approachable. Beforehand we talk about your wishes and ideas; during the session I create a relaxed atmosphere where children can play and parents can breathe. I give subtle guidance and set up playful moments so that spontaneity can emerge. The result is genuine emotion and characterful portraits: hugs, mischievous glances, tiny hands or that first step — all pure and tangible. Technique serves feeling. I use natural light and a calm compositional style to produce timeless images that suit you. With newborns I work gently and respectfully; your baby’s safety and comfort always come first. For children’s photography I use short, playful prompts so that even the most energetic little ones feel at ease. I mainly work in and around Emmen and Drenthe, but I’m happy to come to the location where you feel most comfortable — at home, in the park or at your favourite spot. After the session I carefully select the best images and edit them with attention to colour and mood, so you receive a cohesive, touching story.
